The time has come to trial the upgrades coming to PAYDAY 2. The Diesel engine has been restructured, and even though most of the changes are under the hood, it brings along with it a number of technical improvements players have long been asking for.
This is a huge change, there will be bugs and issues that need addressing. The open beta will be going for the entire month of July to make sure the transition goes smoothly. That being said...
We have created a new forum on the steam discussions called Open-Beta Bug Reporting. Please use it to report issues you may encounter. Before reporting, please make sure that the issue is related to the beta. Any reported bugs that existed prior to the beta will be moved to the regular bug reporting forum.
For more information, head over to the [FaQ] Engine Upgrade Open-Beta steam post.
Open your steam library
Right-Click on the game PAYDAY 2
Select "Properties" from the dropdown
On the left side of the properties panel select "Game Versions & Betas"
Now select the beta branch "open_beta Diesel 3.0 Beta"
Mods will likely be broken and for the beta we want to find un-modded issues, we recommend uninstalling all mods for the duration of the beta. Backing up save data is recommended as some mods (like custom weapons) will be removed from your inventory when uninstalling mods.

Below is an abridged list of a few major changes, more details can be found in the forum post: HERE!
[c]Steam[/c] and [c]EpicMM[/c] interfaces have been replaced with new [c]Distribution[/c] and [c]DistributionMatchmaking[/c] interfaces that share identical features no matter where someone is playing the game
The new "Crate" bundling system allows custom map mods to write their own packages to be able to access units found in maps in-game without loading the package for the entire map
Animation and SoundBank editing mods will be broken for the time being until auto-upgraders can be implemented in the popular mod loader
Updates may be incompatible with the mods you may have installed. Even seemingly unrelated mods may cause unexpected issues. If you are experiencing any problems with the game; try removing any mods you may have installed and try again.
If you are having issues with an unmodded game you can try to verify the integrity of the game files. In the Steam library; right-click on PAYDAY 2. Select "Properties" from the menu. Under the tab "LOCAL FILES" select "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES...". The process may take some time to finish.
